REGULATIONS
OF OPEN EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP
OF KETTLEBELL LIFTING
FOR MEN AND WOMEN U-18 (1991 year of birth and younger)
IN 2009
1. Objectives and tasks.
- Popularization of kettlebell lifting;
- Strengthening of friendship between nations and development of the international cooperation in the domain of sport;
- Attracting young people to athletics;
- Increasing sportsmanship, sharing experiences, revealing the strongest kettlebell lifters of Europe and of the World among young men and young women;
2. Dates and Location.
Location: sports complex “NBS”, 9 Krustasbaznicas street, Riga, Latvia
Date of the championship: June 19 – 22, 2009
Date of arrival and registration of participants: June 19, 2009
Weigh-in and drawing: For biathlon (men U-18) – On June 19, 2009 at 1900-2100 o’clock;
For long cycle (men U-18) – On June 20, 2009 at 1800-1900 o’clock;
For snatch (women U-18) – On June 20, 2009 at 1900-2900 o’clock;
Beginning of the championship: On June 20, 2009 at 1200 o’clock;
On June 21, 2009 at 1200 o’clock;
Date of issue of score-sheets and departure: June 22, 2009
3. Management of competitions.
Overall authority of organization and carrying-out of the championship is supervised by the International Union of Kettlebell Lifting in collaboration with Latvian Association of Kettlebell Lifting.
Chief referee – president of the jury: Guntars Belkovskis (Latvia, international certificate).
Chief scorer: Yanis Zvirbulis.

4. Participants.
Age group: U-18 (1991 year of birth and younger).
Sportsmen of national federations and European countries, as well as representatives of national federations and non-European countries, who received personal invitation, are allowed to compete in the Open European Championship. Sportsmen from non-European countries and countries without national federations, who received personal invitation, are also allowed to participate in the Open European Championship.
Each participating country may field one sportsman in each weight category in each event of the championship (biathlon, long cycle, snatch for women), and to have one separate team for relay race.
Weight categories:
Men: under 53kg, under 58kg, under 63kg, under 68kg, under 73kg, under 78kg, under
85kg, over 85kg;
Women: under 53kg, under 58kg, under 63kg, over 63kg;
Team relay race: under 6kg, under 73kg, under 78kg, under 85kg, over 85kg;
Replacement of a sportsman in a heavier weight category with a sportsman from
lighter weight is allowed.
Equipment:
Men: weight categories under 53kg and under 58kg: 16kg kettlebells;
other weight categories: 24kg kettlebells;
Women: weight category under 53kg: 12kg kettlbells;
other weight categories: 16kg kettlebells;
Team relay race: 24kg kettlebells;
Each team should have uniform dress with its county’s symbolic.
Country representatives should have a flag and a CD with the national anthem.
5. Events of the competitions.
Individual:
Men: classical biathlon (classical “short” jerk + snatch);
long cycle (“long” jerk);
Women: snatch;
Team:
Men: team relay race (classical “short” jerk);
Women: team classification (sum of points of each team member);
Time limit for individual events: 10 minutes for each event (jerk, snatch, long cycle).
Time limit for relay race: 3 minutes for each team member, total time – 15 minutes.
6. Calculation of results and awarding.
The championship is managed according to Rules of the International Union of Kettlebell Lifting with amendments made on the day of competition.
Winners among men are defined by sum of points for biathlon and long cycle, and among women by points for snatch in individual and team classification.
Calculation of results:
Jerk – 2 points;
Snatch – 1 point (score is calculated by sum of repetitions made with right and left hand);
Long cycle – 1 point;
Total score in biathlon is calculated by sum of points for jerk and snatch.
Winners in team classification are defined as followed:
- 5 best results in biathlon;
- 5 best results in long cycle;
- 2 best results in snatch (women);
Points are calculated as followed:
1st place – 20 points;
2nd place – 18 points;
3rd place – 16 points;
4th place – 15 points and one point less for each following place;
In case of equal sum of points preference is given to a sportsman (team) with lighter sole weight.
1st – 3rd place holders in individual classification in each weight category are awarded with medals and diplomas.
1st – 3rd place holders in team relay race are awarded with cups, team members – with medals and diplomas.
1st – 3rd place holders in team classification are awarded with cups and diplomas.
Drug test is provided during the championship. Registration of records is managed according to Regulations of Registration of IUKL.
7. Financial terms.
Expenses, which are associated with sportsmen participation in the Open European Championship (travelling, feeding, accommodation expenses) should be covered by sportsmen or delegating organization.
Starting-fee:
Biathlon (men) 20 EUR;
Long cycle (men) 20 EUR;
Snatch (women) 20 EUR;
Relay race (men) 5 EUR per team member (25 EUR in total);
Sportsmen and teams from countries, which are not members of the International Union of Kettlebell Lifting, should pay starting-fee at double rate.
Sportsmen and teams from countries, which are members of the International Union of Kettlebell Lifting, should pay starting-fee at double rate in case if their country has not paid annual fee for 2009 on the day of competitions.
Accommodation:
Hotel reservation and food orders should be announced in advance.
**** Hotel “Europacity”: double room – 50EUR/night, breakfast included;
** Hotel “Oskars” (located in the same building where competitions are held): double room reserved until June 5, 2009 – 30 EUR/night, double room reserved after June 5, 2009 – 37 EUR/night, breakfast ~ 3 EUR;
* Hostel: 7 EUR per person per night.
Feeding is provided at the venue (for reasonable prices).
Hotel reservations are accepted until June 5, 2009 (See Appendix).

1700 – 1800 Mandate Commission
1800 – 1900 meeting of referees and representatives
1900 – 2000 weighting for biathlon (men)
June 20, 2009
1100 opening of the first day of competition
1130 – 1330 performance of participants (men) in jerk
1330 – 1400 technical break, calculation of results in jerk, performance of artists
1400 – 1600 performance of participants (men) in snatch
1600 – 1630 technical break, calculation of results in snatch and biathlon, performance of artists
1630 awarding
1700 – 1800 weighting for the long cycle (men)
1800 – 1900 weighting for snatch (women)
1900 – 2200 walking tour in Old Riga
June 21, 2009
1100 opening of the second day of the competition
1130 – 1330 performance of participants in long cycle (men)
1330 – 1400 technical break, calculation of results in long cycle, performance of artists
1400 – 1500 performance of participants in snatch (women)
1500 – 1530 technical break, calculation of results in snatch, performance of artists
1530 – 1600 performance of participants in relay race (men)
1600 – 1700 calculation of results of the second day of competition, team classification and
confirmation of results
1700 – 1730 awarding
1800 conclusion of the competition

10. Transfer to the place of competition.
June 19, 2009
1100 – Special bus will go from central train station to hotels.
In case of arrival by plane: take a bus Nr.22 from the airport to the city center, then take a tram Nr.6 until Krustasbaznicas street.
