2025 European Kettlebell Sport Championships

The event was organized under the auspices of the International Union of Kettlebell Lifting (IUKL) in Bulgaria, in Gorna Malina, a small town about 40 kilometers from Sofia, the capital. It was remarkably well organized by Krasimir Ivanov, founder of the "Lokomotiv Be Strong Kettlebell" team, and Zlatina Milanova, the most decorated Bulgarian champion.
Over three days in April, more than 180 athletes from 19 countries competed. The 10th was for the "biathlon" (two-arm jerk & one-arm snatch), the 11th for the two-arm long cycle, and the 12th for the parallel disciplines (marathon, 12-minute snatch, etc.).
The first day was particularly long, with 37 flights, and the referees' endurance was severely tested. In this regard, two English referees have begun their training.
Overall, the Ukrainian team dominated the competition, both in terms of the number of athletes and the exceptional level of their athletes. However, one might wonder whether it might not be advisable to reduce the number of age and weight categories, as there were many podium finishes with only one athlete.
It should be noted that the IUKL is strengthening its ties with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and is imposing mandatory information sessions for all athletes. These were organized by Agnieszka Korol, who is now the primary contact in this area.
In conclusion, the IUKL is affirming its representativeness in Europe through this Championship, both through the level of its competitions and the credibility of its organization.
